Footwear Water Absorption and Desorption Tester China Manufacturer
Insole & Insock Water Absorption & Desorption Tester is intended to determine water absorption and desorption of footwear’s insole and insock.
A test specimen is positioned on a wet base plate and is subjected to repeated flexes under a given pressure(in the same manner as the insole of a shoe during walking). the water absorption at the end of test and the water desorption following the tests are determined.
Test Standards
- ISO 22649 Footwear-test methods for insoles and insocks-water absorption and desorption
- EN ISO 20344 section 7.2 Personal protective equipment-test methods for footwear determination of water absorption and desorption of insole and insock
- EN ISO 20347 section 5.7.3 Personal protective equipment-occupational footwear
- AS/NZS 2210.2 section 7.2 Occupational protective footwear
- ISO 5404 Leather-physical test methods-determination of water resistance of heavy leathers
- EN 12746 Footwear – Test methods for insoles and insocks – Water absorption and desorption

Procedure of Water Absorption Test
- Weight the test piece to an accuracy of 0.001 g.
- Position the cotton gauze on the platform.
- Mount the test specimen into the apparatus, ensuring that the surface in contact with the foot contacts the platform covered with the cotton gauze. Attach the narrow end to the platform and the roller, and a force of (80 ± 5) N is applied.
- Open the valve to enable water flow and adjust this to (7.5 ± 2.5) ml/min over the platform.
- Actuate the machine and note the time. Run the test for 1 hour and stop the water supply 1 min before stopping the machine.
- Remove the specimen and weigh it to the nearest 0.001 g, recording its mass.
- Recondition the test piece by leaving it on a flat waterproof surface in a controlled environment for a period of 24h, then reweigh the specimen to the nearest 0.001 g.
The above is just for reference. Please strictly follow the procedure of the applied standard to carry out the test when you get this testing machine.
