Rubber & Plastic Plasticity Tester China Manufacturer
Williams Parallel-plate Plastometer is intended to measure the plasticity number and recovery number of uncompounded, compounded rubber and reclaimed stocks of unvulcanized rubber and rubber-like materials. The Parallel-plate plastometer is mainly composed of two plates, a dial indicator gauge, oven, dial micrometer gauge.
Test Principle
A test piece of specified volume is preheated to a specified temperature for 15 min, and a compressive force of 49 N is applied for a specified time. The height of the test piece is measured. The test piece is allowed to recover at the test temperature for a specified time. The height of the recovered test piece is measured, and the difference between the two heights is taken as the recovery number.
INQUIRE
Plasticity Number
A test piece with a specific volume and height is heated to a prescribed temperature for a given period and then subjected to a compressive force of 49 N for a specified time. At the end of the time, the height of the test piece is measured, and the plastic number is calculated.
Recovery Number
Procedure A – The test sample is removed from the plastometer immediately after the determination of plasticity and allowed to cool and recover some of its original height for a specified time at a specified temperature. The height is measured again, and the recovery is calculated.
Procedure B – The test sample is compressed to a height of 5mm for the 30s and then allowed to recover at the test temperature for 5min. The height is measured again, and the recovery is calculated.
Test Standards
ASTM D926, ISO7323 JIS, K6249, etc.

Williams Plastometer Features
- There are two metal plates not less than 10 mm thick that are parallel within 0.017 rad(1°) forever.
- A force of 49 ± 0.5 N is applied to the parallel plates.
- The distance between the plates can be measured by a built-in gauge at all times.
- Equipped with an oven containing the plastometer, whose temperature can be adjusted to as high as 200℃.
- A separate dimension measurement gauge is available for conducting recovery measurements.
