IPX3/4/4K Waterproof Test Apparatus

Open-type IPX3 / IPX4 / IPX4K Test Setup is a test device featuring a semicircular oscillating tube that can swing left and right through a specified angle at a given rate under control. The inward side of the tube has a specified number and size of apertures distributed at the specified spacing to spray water. The specimen is required to be positioned at the center of the semicircle to receive the impact of water sprayed from the oscillating tube. The waterproof performance of the specimen against spraying water (IPX3 rating) and splashing water (IPX4 rating) is determined after being exposed to this environment for a specified period of time.

Different from the box-type test device having a enclosed chamber to accommodate the the oscillating tube, this open-type one is simpler in structure. It is made up of two columns, a oscillating tube and a turntable assembly.

A water tank is built into a column to satisfy temporary water supply for the test, and an external water pipe needs to be connected to the water inlet of the water tank to provide a continuous water source to the water tank. The other column integrates a motor, circuits and control systems inside to achieve safer separation of water and electricity. The outer side of the column is equipped with an operating panel. You can choose a PLC touch screen controller or a traditional physical button controller. Before starting the test, you can select a desired test rating, set the test time, and monitor the test status during the test. There is a flow meter on the panel for you to adjust the flow rate to the specified values specified by relevant standards.

The two columns are connected by a stainless steel oscillating tube of 15 mm in diameter, which is a hollow semicircle. The radius of the semicircle is available in 200mm, 400mm, 600mm, 800mm, 1000mm, 1200mm, 1400mm, 1600mm optional depending on your specimen dimensions. The side of the tube facing the center of the circle is distributed with nozzles at the same distance according to the semicircle size. With the cooperation of drive device and control system, the tube can swivel by ± 60° (IPX3) or ± 175° (IPX4/4K) from the vertical plane while spraying at a rate of 1s per 60° during the test. In order to facilitate the replacement of clogged water outlets, we equip each nozzle with a detachable tip similar to the syringe needle to point to the circle center. You only need to align the screw of the tip with the opening of the nozzle and turn it to achieve disassembly and assembly. We also configure metal plugs for IPX3 testing to flexibly reduce the number of nozzles on both sides of the tube. In addition, needles with different inner diameters can be interchanged to meet the requirements of different aperture sizes for IPX3/4 testing(0.4 mm) and IPX4K testing (0.8 mm). The oscillating tubes of different sizes allows to be easily replaced when required and the two columns are compatible with semicircular tubes of different radii.

The turntable assembly consists of a base, a support rod and a turntable. A motor is located inside the the base to drive the turntable to rotate forward or reversely at a desired speed with 5 RPM under control. The loading capacity can be up to 50 kg (Larger loads require customization). A waterproof socket is reserved on the base of the turntable to power the samples under test if required, and the sample power supply can be integrated into the equipment power supply or independent. The bottom of the turntable base and the bottom of the two columns are equipped with casters so that the entire equipment can be easily moved when necessary.
